Coop Maps Report - r6720

ABOUT
Greetings, fellow Knights and Merchants players! Welcome in my thread about coop maps, which should describe to you which maps and why are suitable for next release. I tried to make it short, but detailed, so you can't say it's a fast thought I had on my way from work. Also I need to do a small disclaimer, since times are hard and full of triggered people. This thread in no way wants to attack authors of those maps, neither I want to make someone feel bad, for what they made in the past. We all want to make The Remake nice and enjoyable game and I wanted to do my part.

Me, Strangelove, Jomancool and DarkianMaker have spent quite some time playing most of the coop maps. Many thanks to them for playing with me!

MAPS
A Clash of Kings by PAKER TEAM
Difficulty: Depends on Player Skill
First Attack Timer: Depends on Player Skill

Highlights:
- map quality is a bit low
- elevation looks rushed, especially on mountains
- resources placed a bit randomly

+ iron behind a challenge
+ placing a defender between players, which they must defeat
+ one of the more original ideas in the game


Suggestions:
* map needs facelift
* maybe give AI something to do, so it just doesn't stand there
* make script for feeding recruits in towers in blocked area

Verdict: SHOULD STAY

A Farmers Wish Coop by Hellracer (Converted to coop by Lewin)
Difficulty: Easy
First Attack Timer: 0h 50m

Highlights:
- minor elevation problems
- hill on the south-west not approachable, which leads to confusion of players
- first attack comes a bit too soon for otherwise very easy map
- enemy villages should have their resources redistributed
- enemy defense positions make attacking troops easy target

+ space for buildings a bit small, but leads players to actually think about what they are doing
+ proper difficulty for casual players


Suggestions:
* fix elevation and allow walking on south-west hill
* redistribute enemy resources

Verdict: SHOULD STAY AFTER FIXES ARE APPLIED

A Way East by Andreus
Difficulty: Hard
First Attack Timer: 1h 00m

Highlights:
- object spam is strong with this one
+ quite a big map
+ gifts from ally
+ sound enhancement with dynamic script
+ enough space to build for all players


Suggestions:
* fix object spam
* set first attack at 1h 10m

Notes:
I know this map should be challenging, but setting first attack at 60 like in an actual multiplayer game seems to me like almost game-breaking, since you don't have the freedom to build freely and must rush weapon production fast.
A lot of people told me they like building a lot and having enough time to prepare, maybe there's a way to make a map challenging, but with giving the player freedom to build in a pace he/she wants.

Verdict: SHOULD STAY

Bridgecal Dundee by Creations
Difficulty: Hard
First Attack Timer: 1h 00m

Highlights:
- very low quality map
- elevations should be done better
- first attack at 1h, which is a bit too soon for this map
- enemy cities are just for making soldiers and were given no thought
- human player positions too small


Suggestions:
* redo the map

Verdict: SHOULD BE REMOVED

Coalical Dundee by Creations
Difficulty: Hard
First Attack Timer: 1h 00m

Highlights:
- very low quality map
- iron soldiers attack around 1h 15m is too big
- enemy cities are very small
- map looks like a smaller copy of TSK16


Suggestions:
* redo the map

Verdict: SHOULD BE REMOVED

Hillycal Dundee by Creations
Difficulty: Unbeatable
First Attack Timer: 1h 00m

Highlights:
- low quality map
- human player resources are unbalanced
- iron soldiers attack around 1h is very big
- second attack unbeatable, since it comes too soon after the first one
- enemy cities are very small
- map unbeatable


Suggestions:
* redo the map or at least fix the attacks and human player resources

Notes:
This map is better than the ones before, but it's still plagued by unbalanced resources and fast enemy attacks.

Verdict: SHOULD STAY AFTER FIXES ARE APPLIED
