Map Directories

Right, I've been twiddlin with the maps, and have come up with the following about the directories in which the maps are stored. I realise this is simple stuff, but it took me some time to work it out, so I thought I had better put it somewhere useful

in the maps folder there are three subfolders, smaps, dmaps, and mmaps.

smaps
The Shattered Kingdom maps [save01.map to save20.map]
save00.map is the town tutorial
tutorial.map is the battle tutorial

dmaps
The Peasants Rebellion maps [save01.map to save14.map]
save00.map is the tutorial, which is the same as the demo map

mmaps [this is where to pay attention]
[Single Maps / Multiplayer maps]
save00.map [Across the Desert / Three continents]
save01.map [In a strange land / Wilderness]
save02.map [Snow and Sand / Battle for Coal]
save03.map [Land of the Quick River / Border Rivers]
save04.map [Black Gold / Land of Hills]
save05.map [Mountain Walls / Mountainous Region]
save06.map [ --- / Castle Slaughter]
save07.map [ --- / Coastal Encounter]
save08.map [ --- / Ambushed!]
save09.map [Realm of the Darkness / Bridge Disaster]

Are you talking about Krom's editor? In case you are, it's not completely dead. Krom said he would take a (well deserved) break from this editor and see how the map editing community would grow.
If you ask me, the current version of this map editor has pretty much every feature you need for map editing (not for mission editing though :().
