Re: koczis12's maps

Holy moly, that is one splendid map. I must admit I checked some original maps to see if you copied anything. Sorry for that, but I guess it's a compliment as well. :)
Yet my sharp eyes ( (H) ) still discovered a couple of small details that could be improved. I'll write about it later if you like; I'm too tired right now. :P
By the way, is this your first map? You're quite talented!

Re: koczis12's maps

Nice map! Can we included it in the next release of the KaM Remake? :)
We're planning to release around 29th, so you have about 1 week.

Normally I post a list of things you could improve here, but I just can't find any in this map! Honestly it's one of the best looking fan made maps I've seen in a while. Have you been taking lessons from The Dark Lord?

Thanks for all your comments. I'm really glad you guys like it!
By the way, is this your first map?
No its not my first map i've posted a few at knights.sztab forum.
Can we included it in the next release of the KaM Remake?
Of course you can! I was hoping you ask that question. :D
Have you been taking lessons from The Dark Lord?
Well I have to say no. I learnt it all by myself and I think that this is the best way of improving your map making skills.

Re: koczis12's maps

Okay I'm now going to share my thoughts about a couple of things that could be better. But mind you, they are mostly based on taste so you might disagree.

I noticed some of your tile transitions are quite sharp. You could make it like the picture on the right to soften it a little. In the red circle is another strange transition.
Image

The tile transitioning is actually my main 'complaint'. In the picture underneath you'll see some more, but these are just random ones. If you want to make your map perfect I suggest you go out and find them yourself. :)
Image

I don't really like dead bushes on rocks like that, but again: that's a difference in taste.
Image

Also, have you zoomed out to 9%? Please do so and compare the bridges. The bridge in the center of the map is almost twice as large. You could make it a little shorter (not necessarily less broad).
And I think the forest to the south east of the bridge is a bit too random.

Well that's it already, guess there's just not much to complain about. :)

I think all mountains aren't tall enough. You should improve it.

Re: koczis12's maps

I agree with what The Dark Lord said, except I think it's ok for the bridges to be different sizes :P

Yeah some of them are a bit flat, especially the two in the top right corner (stone and iron) I'd like to know what The Dark Lord thinks about this.

Re: koczis12's maps

Nicely done! I can see you put a lot of effort in making this map.
There are a few flaws like The Dark Lord mentioned, but this is nothing compared to some other maps i've seen. :)
Like Piko I think mountains should be a little taller.
Keep on making maps like this!

Re: koczis12's maps

I think the iron mountains are fine, but some gold mountains could be a little less flat. Then again; you'll find mountains like those on original maps too. I always make them much higher but that does not necessarily look better.

Re: koczis12's maps

Thank you Lord for such minutely scan of my map I really appreciate it.
I' ll make sure that those shortcomings are fixed.
I don't really like dead bushes on rocks like that, but again: that's a difference in taste
Yeah, just like you said its matter of taste so Im gonna leave the bushes on those rocks.
The bridge in the center of the map is almost twice as large. You could make it a little shorter (not necessarily less broad).
About those, difference between the bridges was made on purpose and thats the way I've planned it all along so I think its ok just the way they are. :D
And I think the forest to the south east of the bridge is a bit too random.
Yes I think a little change will be good out there. Good point Lord. :)
I think all mountains aren't tall enough. You should improve it.
Its no problem I will make them a little bit taller.
I can see you put a lot of effort in making this map.
I've Done My Best :D
Keep on making maps like this!
Sure I will!

If it comes to gold mountains I think they are ok, maybe a little to tall but I guess we can turn a blind eye in this matter. :P

Well thank you all again for yours precious advices. If you will find something else please inform me about it. Thanks!

Nothing more to add from me, very nice map. Honestly earned a place in the coming release. I do have one question: How many hours/days have you spend on this one?

Re: koczis12's maps

I just wanted to point out that Golden Cliffs has been played 94 times in just over a week since we released the update, and it's been played almost twice as much as the next most popular building map Wilderness. (check our servers page)

That's over 10 games played every single day on Golden Cliffs (H) (so on average Golden Cliffs is played approximately once every 2 hours for every hour of the day, every day of the week...) You should be very proud of yourself koczis12 ;)
