An Empire Destroyed

Well i have been wokring on this semi secretly for a while now, but now it is time to announce my campaign: An Empire Destroyed.

Well the ones who are stalking me on youtube probably have seen the trailer already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXNiJ20J9Q0 (i am looking at you ben, sado :P )

The campaign shall be a long one, but it is divided in 5 chapters.
As far as the progress is i am working on mission 08, and shadaoe is working hard on the scripts aswell. (hurray for shad!).

In this topic i shall only post the first 2 missions as a teaser, and after that i will only update chapter after chapter.
And offcourse you are getting an introductional story like every story has.

You are a king of the kingdom circino in the continent of umbodia, where you lived in peace with 4 other kingdoms named exerana, camentia, rokaneia and tolrega. The empire of exerana is being ruled by King Gongrel and became strong due to it’s fertile lands in the water kingdom. They lived of the trade of food and the more luxury food: fish. Their armies do not represent strength in quality, but more strength in quantity.

Then we have the desert kingdom of camentia, the desert warriors that prosper through the trade of gold. This kingdom used to be nothing more than some nomadic tribes, until one man now known as sultan Saadi united them and forged the now very strong and rich empire. Their armies are highly versatile with fearsome cavalry that no one else on the continent can match.
Another one of the kingdoms is the kingdom of Rokaneia . Rokaneia is a more self-sufficient barbarian kingdom where strength is anything. Their leader, warlord Gak, is a living legend. Tales have told that Gak slayed over 1000 enemies using the same axe he is still carrying. His troops are no pushovers either, as almost all of them wields axes that only some of circino’s elite forces can carry. They also dislike body armor, as they think it is for the feeble, cowards and the weak.

In the mountains lies the kingdom of Tolrega, which is unusual enough being ruled by a counsel of lords. The mountains are rich of iron ore, and The kingdom used that iron ore to forge the best armor and weapons one has ever seen in the continent. Living and training in the mountains also made sure their troops are hardened more than any of the continent’s soldiers. Their endurance has no match.
And last but not least, there is Circino which is under your rule. Circino is a peaceful kingdom with a lot of trading opportunities. Their army is not very strong, but they go through the path of diplomacy rather than fighting. The army that they do have is meant to fight of bandits who otherwise will terrorize the citizens.

The 5 kingdoms lived in peace for many years, until one day the other kingdoms conspired and decided to invade Circino. As brave as circino’s army fought, they were no match for the other kingdoms. Settlement after settlement fell, bandits roamed the country as the kingdoms did not do anything against them. Citizens who resisted got executed and the hope of circino is almost lost. The enemies are standing at the capital gates, are you able to fight for circino and restore it in its former glory?

Mission01 briefing:
Welcome to the continent of Umbodia, where 5 kingdoms prospered through cooperation and trade. In the northeast is the barbarian kingdom of Rokaneia, known for some of the most fearsome warriors under the rule of the warlord Gak. In the southeast you will find the kingdom of Exerana, emerged from the swamps and watery land under the rule of King Gongrel. On the southwest lies the desert kingdom Camentia, which is ruled by sultan Saadi. And as last we have the mountainous kingdom of Tolrega which a counsel of lords are ruling. The kingdoms lived in peace for over 50 years, until one day the 4 other kingdoms started invading the country of Circino, which is ruled by you.

Mission02 briefing:
Briefing: Our capital has fallen to the brutal onslaught of the enemy kingdoms. You have to retreat to safety before you can devise a strategy for reconquering your kingdom. The enemy has noticed your escape and is on your heels, trying to capture you for execution at all costs. Your royal guard is personally escorting you to safety, but the enemy is large in numbers and an encounter might lead to the your demise.

Re: An Empire Destroyed

Ok my short feedback, with full content :D

Mission 01:

+Really nice terrain and object placement(Not sure about the 3 bridgepillars left and right of the city)
+Many different terrain types used in the different regions
+Really nice and interesting story

+Really a "big surprise" for the player, unless he will be spammed from every side at one time
=> Not many Players will be able to win it in the first time, because they don´t know what´ll happen.
+Huge fights, which need a huge constant concentration from the player for like 10 min (Nearly 1000 units killed in total)

(-) Many messages: I read like the first 3 of them, but because of the huge fight I just had to delete like 10 more after the fight, it´s not possible to read them(for me at least :P )
-No set of auto-jobs in the city(Maybe you wanted it extra like that or dunno). However it´s also not really possible to set jobs(weapons/armory) at the start of the game for each building, because the big fight starts really fast
+Really nice ending, also a little surprise
+Story is also set nicely in the mission(the different colors are strict attacking from their sides)

=>So after all I think it´s a nearly perfect misson to start a campaign. Maybe I´m a little bit subjective because I like tactic missions with that big fights really. However its fun to play and see how the story starts. Maybe as small idea, you could include a simple sound, that your "Primary Mission" has changed(like it is known from many others strategy games/RPG´s).
When the other missons will be similar good to that one, I think that this campaign could bring really many hours of fun!

Mission 02:

+Like at the previours misson a good looking map
+Many surprises with soldiers
-Objective should say maybe that you shouldn´t loose your King(Knight)(Maybe I just didnt saw that warning :P  )
+Funny yellow bowmen that don´t want to stalk you
(-)About the rebelliants I have to say, that it is maybe possible that they start fighting just one sec before you can see them. So that looks like that would be a huge fight and you just see that bloody and horrible fight/Right now it looks just like the rebeliant were waiting for you and get then attacked :P
+Good military blockades, so the player has to "take an other road"
+Nicely marked position, where you have to go

=>Nearly same resultant like misson 01 for me. That time the fights werent really huge and long. However the player has to use his army wisely and has to watch at his army also "behind" :D

Skypper : You can kill the rogues by moving the army up the hill when you're on the road on the right ;)

The first mission is more of an intro then an actual mission. in the story your capital has to fall and you are being overwhelmed by the enemy. so you win when you lose basically. as for the second mission. yes you can only reach the rogues from the front, otherwise the following mistakes will occur:
- you can kill the rogues before you get to the point where you actually have to deal with them;
- you can skip half of the map.

Re: An Empire Destroyed

I just started playing this campaign. So far i am in 3 mission and i really enjoy playing. But i have question: why i cant build tannery in 3 mission?

Edit: Okey, now i know. When i built barracks, there arrived 1200 leather jackets.

it is a workaround for the script untill better scripting possibillities become available. glad that you like it though :)

you need to go to the right corner. Somehow i believe, something is not right there entirely.

Re: An Empire Destroyed

I finished mission 3 and i have one note. AI army was dying by hunger, especially the village in right corner. After watching the replay, i noticed that they were dying because i killed their serfs. Maybe you could add them school to train new serfs or something. Unless it was intented by you.
This map was beautiful!

Re: An Empire Destroyed

it should say so in the message, put a soldier in front of your storehouse. after that build a market and they will send you goods.

Re: An Empire Destroyed

Ahh... :o I see.. got it working now... I had to sent a soldier to the ally's storehouse, and the 20 stone will then automatically be deducted from my storehouse
