I disagree with Kirill, one does not need to be a builder, to have an in-depth opinion and decide if a house is good or not.

Indeed. I like your idea: "How about sports scoring system - 5+ judges, each specializing in its field (visuals, balance) saying thier scores on important maps properties (looks, balance, fun, etc)". It´s just what we discussed about. That´s also why I disagree with Kiril. It´s not about good mapmaper or not. Even more drastic, I would say a team ONLY with mapmakers will bring a bad result. (Some mapsmakers will to have mostly their own maps in the Remake without objective view of it

) So people that never made a map, should also be in this "team".
The idea of this team, is actually a help for Krom and Lewin. So they haven´t to watch all new maps and decide alone to accept it or not. Maybe you 2 should just say what you think about certain people and say your opinion about it. Who you think, would fit best to this "team"?
About Andreus and Woloszek - they're professionals in mapmaking. Andreus's maps aren't worse than Sado's and To's
I think noone said that andreus is worse mapmaker than To for example. So don´t take it to serious Kiril

Ben just mentioned To, because he is talking and playing more often with To than with Andreus. So they are kind of "friends" I guess

To claims to have played over a thousand games of KaM. With that much experience, he's got to have some helpful insight

yeah, agree with this idea... the problem is just to choose these 5 judges

About "not-mapmakers"... yes we need some but not those who plays on the same (4-5 maybe) maps everytime ;D

Maybe smth from me. At first, map committee is good idea, but I don't know what exactly we should judge? One person should vote for example balance, gameplay, other terrain, third ideas, etc? or one person should vote (of gameplay, terrain, etc)? Kam is for all people, also for beginners players like also for pro players. When we allow only pro players to evaluate the map, what is the risk that they will choose the map only for their perfect gameplay? Ofc, new maps (not added to remake yet) which are flat, without objects, and without balance of resources (e.g. in rocks) couldn't be added in next version of Remake. But what next? We should leave opinion for each map? should leave a comment for each map to mapmaker was able to improve it? and to know what the map has not been included? Idea is nice, but it not that simple as well. When you choose the best solution, I can be in this committee. I'd love to help, but if in yours opinions I am bad person, so ok. (I just always have time for KaM, not only at this moment like others ;P ).

I agree with Woloszek. A map committee should only look at the beauty of a map, because gameplay is different for most people. Of course, in very obvious cases where gameplay is impaired it should be taken into account.

Due to the fact that Lewin has woken up from the winter sleep (or whatever the English words for this are), and a Release Candidate version might be approaching soon(ish), I decided to start looking through the CURRENT maps list (as in, the maps that are currently in the game) with a couple of mapmakers that are considered good. The result of this will be a list of maps that will stay in the Remake in the new version (of course, if Lewin and community will agree for that). We'll finish doing it soon, and will probably next start downloading and judging all the new maps.
Therefore, I'd like to ask all mapmakers (and interested players too!) to check the list in the first post of this topic. If there is an updated version of a map, or a totally new one, and it's not yet on the list, please let us know by posting here. Download link will be very handy. Note that if we won't be able to find a download link on the forums (or TS) this will likely mean we won't be able to include the map.
New additions to the list will be added at the bottom of each category. I already added some recent ones now, but most likely not all.

It was my summer sleep, learn how hemispheres work
I think the word you wanted is hibernation.
Thanks for your help with the maps

Ok let's start ;D
1) We forgot about Swampland:
kamrepos/map.php?id=126
2) Some maps by me and friends are in Repos (just filter by author --> andreus)
3) TSK/TPR coops fixes by me (Pawel has given his feedback already):
[10.04.2014 0:30:18] pawel 95: so about your maps, most are really good made in my opinion and should work perfectly in the remake for normal kam player
4) Land of Hills and Battle for Coal fixes (vovets discussed this with Lewin long time ago, in... January

)
[27.01.2014 14:21:24] Lewin Hodgman: yeah I think we could replace those two
[27.01.2014 14:39:25] vovets: Big thanks to you
5) a huge fixes + new maps pack by me and friends (over 40 maps) coming soon ;D

1) 3): done. 2) 5): can we just do it like that: you upload all the new maps to the repos, and I will later just download them all? Or, alternatively, you can release a mappack when you're done with it. As for fixed versions, maybe don't upload them in the repos though.
4) and a bit 5): I am not sure how community will react to fixes for original maps. I can reveal that so far we've been thinking about deleting Battle for Coal (yes, deleting an original map), so maybe a fixed version won't hurt. Land of Hills is also unpopular, but at least somewhat playable (we wanted it to stay, since it's an original map). We'll see when we got a list of fixes.

well,
TSK/TPR coops:
kamrepos/map.php?id=150 (16 maps)
New maps:
http://speedy.sh/Gd3VH/NEW.zip (33 maps + KaMClub competition archive [2 campaigns, 2 maps])
Fixes:
http://speedy.sh/REDdU/FIXES.zip (19 maps)
maybe NOT ALL maps are here, at least I did not add strange maps (like Hunting Season)
also I have 4 Kamyk's maps but idk if I have newest versions:
- Angry Farmer (spec/coop)
- DotK (coop)
- Deep in the mountains (tactic)
- Behind the trees (tactic)
and TRB's nice map:
kamrepos/map.php?id=123

OK, I did some homework - I downloaded all the new/updated maps and grouped them up in 2 mappacks (available on TS in Map Commitee folder of Map Archive, if anyone wants to download them). First mappack is updated maps (including Andreus' updates), second one is new ones (andreus' are also uploaded but in a separate file there). However, not all maps I am sure I have proper download links for:
Cold War, For the Horde, Happy Three Friends, To the North, Unknown Lands (all coop, Mateusz_Kai_Hiwatari&Luki)
Zombie Apocalypse - is that version newest? I just copied the one from andreus' mappack
Florescence One/Two?
The Adventurer's Journey - not officially released yet, I know, but surely it will before the new Remake comes?
New Dream
KaMCraft - need the newest version (is the map even done yet?)

about coops (Cold War, For the Horde, Happy Three Friends, To the North, Unknown Lands) - I'll check KaMRemake folders, as I remember, Luki sent these maps to me ;D
Zombie apocalypse - I included newest versions (with fixed roads and formatted timers) into my mappacks
KaMCraft - long story about this
EDIT:
well I found some maps but seems that I have old versions. need to find just To the north. and also ask Luki about some more coops (Pain, Kokoko (

), Clean the Lands...). Also some Kamyk's maps - need to ask him if these versions are newest
+ forgotten maps:
kamrepos/map.php?id=123,
kamrepos/map.php?id=117, snake and more maps from MiniGames topic.
EDIT2:
Why is Lost Road in updates pack?

It's new map. The Siege is in new maps pack but it's an update.. And where's KaMClub archive?

Also you added old version of sea siege (not defense, just sea siege). In new version we added dynamic script. Download:
http://speedy.sh/YUtfb/update.zip (also included the siege - fixed defense positions which I forgot to check

).

Thx for the fix

ZA is quite a ugly name that doesn't really fit KaM, so maybe it is better to rename it to Invasion ore something?
What do you think?

hmm... yep maybe better find a new, less aggressive name
+ more maps:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1968
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1312
maybe this
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2040
and maybe more maps from Map Design forum... ;p
btw, Sado, plz update The Coquest's rus translation... the old one is unreadable, really

EDIT:
small update ;D
