Right clik closes windows.

I think I have this "habit" from some other games. I try to close windows (like message windows) with right click anywhere on that window.

This action is not assigned to anything and it is way more easy than clicking on Delete button or pressing a key.

Re: Right clik closes windows.

Do you mean to propose 'delete' or 'close' with a right-click?

I think he means to delete, I don't see why you would keep the kam-messages. ;D
Kick fast, think Bo.

I mean delete. Once you read the message you hardly ever need it. And in the case you do you can always take the extra time and hit close (like you do right now)

If this isn't hard to implement, I don't see a reason why not. These are the little details that make this remake such a great thing. ;)

Re: Right clik closes windows.

I'm against this change in this form, because this is not consistent with Windows nor with existing KaM UI. Right-clicks do not close or delete things there :)

You open the message with a left-click, read it and there's nothing wrong about closing it with a left-click as well :)

Re: Right clik closes windows.

I agree with Krom, that's not intuitive.
The real problem here is that there's way too much message spam in the game especially in situations where you're losing, there's no need for the game to send you a reminder that every house is unoccupied every 3 minutes. We'd like to improve the message system so it's not so spammy and more helpful. We're already planning to make the house/soldier/location mentioned in the message highlight while the message is open, and I think we could come up with a way to make reminders just refresh the old message in your queue rather than making a new one. Also if there's lots of messages of the same type maybe they could be combined into one? (something like "These houses are not occupied: <list of houses>"?)

We're interested in your suggestions :)

Re: Right clik closes windows.

Well it would already be an improvement if the delay is increased, and i like your idea of combining the same messages to prevent more spam. it is alwaysannoying to make extra coal mines in case your others run out and constantly get reminded the houses are not occupied.

If the "these houses are unoccupied" option was introduced, would it work in real time then, or it would stay like now - a message after a few minutes?

Not sure how that could work, I'm interested in hearing suggestions and we're even open to redesigning the entire message interface if someone has a better idea, or making these notifications not come in the form of messages but through some other interface.

Isn't there a way to mark the building which miss a citizen in the building/citizen stats menu? Like marking them red or something.

yes and after a while you will get a message you have unoccupied houses, and if you click on the button that normally shows the building itself it shows the statistics?

Re: Right clik closes windows.

I thought it would be interesting to have a list of needed workers in the statistics menu. For example, if I had an empty quarry, I would have the stonemason's picture with a +1 on it. (meaning I needed +1 stonemason)
Also, if I had two stonemasons and only one quarry, I would have -1 on his picture (meaning I had one unemployed stonemason).

That might take too much room, it might be not look good, or it might be difficult to implement, but it's just an idea that I've had. It would be really nice in situations where you run out of gold but keep building. The result is usually 10+ unoccupied buildings

I'd say a real time list would be the best choice. It could be a button that has a number on it showing how many buildings aren't occupied. Then it could open when you click on it, showing which buildings aren't occupied, or maybe which people you have to train, instead.

I like Ben's idea as well, but I'd say either way is good enough. Ben's idea might be better, as it doesn't clutter the screen with icons all the time.

You are going offtopic. Can any pf moderators please split it?

@Ben: We dont want to make city management overly easy (like adding a button to autotrain citizens once they are needed).
