Crystalline Falls 8p

Hello, I just finished another map for 8 players. On this one I wanted to try all the things I never did before like creating waterfalls, using lava and some other things. Here's an overview of the map (192x208):

On each side a player on the team start on an Island that needs to be protected on the sides by his teammates on the left and rightside. The last teammate is for support only and has no frontline to protect. The map is designed to give a disadvantage to campers:

On this picture you can see that you need to get out of your base to protect the player in the middle. No one can build past the purple border. The red arrows show where you normally should gather your troops after peacetime. To make it even less campy I created 4 spots on the map (marked with yellow circles) you can decide to capture. If your team has all 4 spots captured (and occupied simultaniously) the whole map is revealed for your team. This feature isnt included yet since its still under construction.

Since the players on the Island are on the frontline I've made it easier to make a good base there. Enough resources are nearby and they start with 2 extra builders/serfs so they have a little faster start.

I have only played the map once, but I can say that it is the most beautiful map I have seen. In fact, it is so nice, it makes me not want to make maps anymore :P

Five games in a row:)
The games were enjoyable.
We all saw all locations are various and some is extreme hard to plan. For me there are two locations maybe 3 on the maps whats are in the top 10 hardest locs ever in MP maps. I wonmdered these hard locations are working:) Some has lower start but interesting the map has good balance.
Impossible to plan city without delayed road or slip road. Hard to find good placement for woodcutter and metalurgist.
The games had nice fightings. So the map has good planned zones.

I think to this map has a speciel KaM feelings(normal PT, normal speed). An enjoyable and hard map!

Indeed. Sorry TDL, Majestic Waters isn't my favourite map (when speaking about the looks) anymore :P

i did not play a game yet, but to set a new mapmaking standard, it makes me want to ragequit fomr mapmakaing ^^

Thanks for the kind words. There was a bug with a stuck builder on loc 8 in some of the testgames that caused the game to crash. Thanks to Pawel this is now fixed. So here is another update. There are some minor changes made and amount of iron is corrected for loc 7.

I think the script needs some explanation in the lobby description or a readme PDF. Players should know roughly what to expect from the script before starting it (I've been reading it trying to guess what it does :P). If the script doesn't have a major impact on gameplay then the map can stay in the building section (like Center Castle Looting), but if it's quite different then it should go in the special maps section.

Beautiful map by the way :)

Thanks, I think the map can stay in the normal MP section and I even think an extra explanation isn't needed. It's more or less self explaning after PT. And besides that the script isn't needed to win the game in any way. It's just to make sure the attacker has an advantage (in sight) when the the game becomes some sort of a stalemate :wink:

What about one line in the description like: "Capture the outposts at the sides to reveal the map and gain an advantage"
