What about Shift+Click orders 100 items in workshops?

Topic name says it all. Sometimes you just want to order 300 items without much of a clicking.

Other alternatives are Middle click (all mice have it by now?)
Ctrl+click (not sure if we use Ctrl anywhere in the game yet, besides assigning units to a quick-selection)

MMB sounds like a good idea. Or maybe implement both Shift+LMB and MMB so that if someone doesn't have the latter he could use this feature as well. :D

Ctrl seems fine, while MMB is present in most mouses (except like small, cheap laptop ones ?) it's usually tied to scroll, which is already used for zooming, which.. well.. might be annoying.
Also, how about using 50 as single step - it's small enough to be used to place exact order but big enough to use as "infinity" ?

+100 increment sounds much more like infinity on a typical match when you want to order 300 armors. Also x100 is a power of 10 which is kind of consistent with x10 for RMB. Ctrl is not usually depicted as a "give me MOAR" kind of thing (shift+pgDown, shift selecting files, etc.), it's more "picky" (I want to pick this and this files).

What do MP veterans say, +100 on Shift+LMB?

either shift or control + lmb sounds fine by me, middle mouse might be a bit annoying to use.

Shift+LMB is almost agreed, just one more alternative: what about Photoshop-kind-of-controls when you press LMB on a numeric field and drag left/right to change the value? So for example if you drag with LMB you get +/-1 per pixel and with RMB +/-10 per pixel.

oooh a bar to set an order is very annoying as far as i experienced, it is always too hard to set the bar pixel perfect on the right amount of goodies so you always slip above or under the amount of goods you want.

Agree with dicsoupcan.

i.e. in your map editor if you want to set the radius of a group of soldiers it is very hard to pick exactly 2. It would be easier to set a number, either type the number or set it with + / - buttons.

Yes thank you, the ai defence radius is a perfect example of how annoying it can be.
