Populous

It's a game of which the best-known one (The Beginning) came out at about the same time as Kam-tsk. (I even bought them both at the same time)

Fans are now creating a new one, (since the company which made it (Bullfrog) went broke).

It's called Populous TC

What is it about, what do you do in it?

well, just as in the previous Populous games, you're a shaman to lead a tribe. which means slaughtering other tribes, stealing their technology and such...

That sounds fun, but as I see on the screenshot, the graphics are really old. Not bad, they're just very old comparing to these ones today, which I don't really care that much...
I could play it someday, if I find it...

Did a bit of a search to see if there was any populous (most notably "the beginning") discussion going on as KaM and Pop were both out about the same time and both consumed my childhood. Its kinda funny that the most relevant thing that I could find about populous is the Populous TC project. Started by "King Warg" (who I believe was banned from the populous reincarnated community for hacking) about 9 or 10 years ago, and still to this day uncompleted (granted he is still working on it). He also has his own multiplayer matchmaker for populous the beginning but I believe less people use that than use the populous reincarnated matchmaker (numbers quite low on this now too unfortunately).

Shame to see a game like populous the beginning slowly fading away into the depths, especially when I've been playing it online since 06 (granted I've been pretty inactive the last couple years).

Does anyone here dabble in populous online?
