Server Hosting

Hello,

I want to be of service with hosting a server. Used to work fine but now for some reason when I start the server its functions for a little while. But after a short period of time it does not longer show up in the ingame serverlist, it does show up on the website list, but with an icon in front of it. Port 56789 is properly forwarded, so that is not it. Otherwise it would not work at al but it does, and then it stops.

Someone encountered this problem before?

Tnx

By saying "port 56789 is properly forwarded", do you mean in your router, firewall or both?

I mean in router.

first time i started the server my firewall asked me what to do, and I allowed it to acces the internet.
Where would I be able to forward something in firewall?

Picture one shows kindowf the error.

Picture two is just after I closed and restarted the console.

Picture 3 shows the server in the list (by the way, why is it shown twice? And what does the icon infront of the top one mean?)

Picture 4 shows it is possible to join the game.

After a while the server is no longer shown on the list...

Well, your port forwarding seems to be configured properly, since I can telnet it. Are you using Windows Firewall, or are you using an Anti-Virus firewall solution?

Yes and for now people can join,

I am using Eset Nod 32. But that shouldn't be the problem because I am hosting for a few weeks/months now and the problem just started a few days ago.
And I was using Nod 32 when it did work.

The only thing different between working and not working is that I moved recently.
But only the server IP changed, same PC, same setup, same local IP.

Groetjes,

I know NOD32 by name, but never used it. Does it have a firewall? Are you (actively) using it?

If so, I suggest you try disabling it for a few hours. If you still encounter the issue, it's not NOD32 that's causing the problem.

Hey,

I did as you suggested, here are the results:

This session was with Nod32 disabled

There is also a possibility that your ISP is blocking something - automatic anti ddos protection or something like that - although your ISP doesn't appears to be some random, small company but you can't deny the possibility. One of big polish telecoms (now Orange) used to firewall some ports/services (like IRC :P) for "security" reasons. Perhaps they are low on IP addresses and doing something like NAT behind the scenes (it's crazy but who knows..).

Anyway, according to nmap (I checked out IP reported to master server):
  Code:
PORT STATE SERVICE 56789/tcp filtered unknown
If you can/know how, use wireshark and ask some of your friends to connect to your server - see if any packets reaches your PC, if no then your router/isp is at fault, if they do - PC/firewall, etc.

PS:
Sadly, server logs (with exception of crash/stack traces) are pretty useless.

Or something else, yes. Rather something else

I don't have any knowledge about this technique as from now. I am quite busy now and I will look in to it next week or so.
Will post here when I don't succed or if I succeeded I will post the results here.

I'd try with any firewall disabled:

- Disable NOD32
- Disable Windows Firewall
- Double check the port forwarding in your router

If this still happens, I don't think you have a stable connection.

The first icon means "local" (the game detected the server on your LAN). The second icon you circled means "dedicated server". The third icon (shown for "JOel is de coolste") means the server is running within someone's game client by clicking the "Create Server" button (instead of dedicated). The "dedicated" and "client" icons both mean they were found from our master server list, as opposed to be detected locally on the LAN.

As for your problem, try following other people's suggestions and let us know how that goes.
