You must have the original game installed in order to play KaM Remake. The installation will be aborted."

I've read the most common answers to this error happening in other posts over the years.

You have the original KAM game on steam?
Did you instal said KAM game on steam?
Did you atleast once run the game via steam?

Maybe this will help.

You need a Windows version of KaM for the Remake installer to detect it. And Mac version isn't even TPR, it only has the TSK part.

Aside from that what are other application shall be needed that this could be possible?

Sado already said it:

KaM Remake installer works only under Win and checks for Win KaM.

In my opinion it should be added that under Linux (and probably Mac too) simply copy-pasting an installed version of KaM Remake from Windows and using it seems to work just fine.

Maybe an installed version of KaM Remake could be uploaded for Mac and Linux users, without an installer?
Would it be possible to maybe just make it check for the GoG installer, without actually using it, in order to avoid legal issues?

"Version of KaM Remake ... without an installer?"

Doubt we can do that, it basically becomes a pirated version.

All in all it is just much simpler for a Mac user to install KaM Remake on to a Windows machine and then carry over it to Mac+Wine.
