What would a kingdom be without workers? What could the workers do if there would be no way of learning how to do certain things?

This is where the schoolhouse comes in... For a small fee, you can train yourself a worker of just about any profession from the schoolhouse. Whether it'd be a farmer who spends his days harvesting crops, or a recruit who is trained to do only one thing, fight!

Can a man survive without food? Of course not, and unsurprisingly this is also the case with the people of King Karolus kingdom.

The inn is one of the central places in your town where all of your citizens gather to eat when they are hungry. There is room for six citizens on the table, and there are four different types of food being offered in the inn.

How can one build buildings without the necessary raw materials? Houses cannot be built of only timber, stones are always needed as well!

To get stones, you will need to build a quarry near a mountain of the appropriate type. Stone that is suitable for building can be mined from mountains with a greenish hue.

Stones make durable buildings. Stones are hard to form on the other hand. What else could one use than stones? Why, timber is the answer!

Trees are felled and planted by the woodcutter. He will travel deep into the forests to find a tree he finds suitable for making a trunk and cut it down. Once a forest has been completely cleared, the woodcutter will start planting new trees.

Tree trunks alone are not worth the time. Building a house with tree trunks would not result in a nice looking result, but how can one fix the situation?

To produce timber, one will have to build a sawmill. Here the carpenter will be hard at working up the tree trunks and eventually turn these into timber.

"An army marches on its stomach". This is an old saying but that does not make it obsolete. We already concluded that a man does not live without food, but naturally food just does not appear. It has to be produced in a way or another.

At the farm, a farmer will work harvesting crops. In addition to only building the house, it is also necessary to lay out some field where the farmer will sow the corn. Now the farmer will just have to wait until the corn is ready to be harvested.

The baker also, surprisingly, masters the usage of the mill. At the mill, he can grind the newly harvested crops into flour, which can then be used for baking.

Your kingdom does not survive without it's food supply. The baker is the most important food supply for your kingdom as bread is the ware that you will be counting on for the most of your time.

It's not like your subjects could survive by only eating bread and drinking wine! They need to get some real meat once in a while, and the swine farm makes sure that meat is available in your town. Additionally, skins are also produced here.

Gold was most likely the first metal that man used to create tools. During history it's purpose has changed numerous times.

Gold is one of the most important resources in the game. Training any profession from the school always costs gold, and it can also be used for hiring mercenaries. The gold ore mined here has to be refined before it can be used as payment. Make sure to build your gold mine near mountains with golden veins.

Iron ore itself did not make durable steel. Later it was figured out, that by combining the iron ore with some coal, the end product lasted significantly longer than normal iron.

Coal is one of the most wanted resources in the game. The iron weapon production alone has three different buildings in need of it, not to talk about the metallurgist who also needs coal when he refines the gold ores. A coal mine should be built onto places where black coal is visible on the ground.

People that were poor did not have any kind of possibility to produce weapons made of iron, so they had to count on what they could get... This often resulted in weak weapons.

The carpenter excels in wood working, and unsurprisingly he also works over here creating wooden weapons. He knows how to create three different kinds of weapons, the hand axe, the longbow and the lance. For each weapon two pieces of timber are needed, so a constant supply of wood is necessary if producing wooden weapons.

A soldier who went into battle without armor was a fool. A single hit could well take one down, so wearing armor was necessary to have a chance of surviving. Some armor might have been less durable than other...

Producing armor requires you to have an armory workshop. Both wooden shields and leather armor can be created over here. The carpenter will need one piece of timber to create a wooden shield, and one piece of leather to create one leather armor.

What could a stable be good for? Of course horses are what will be bred in this building. To breed horses, corn must be fed to them until they are big enough to be mounted by your military soldiers. So incase you want horses, you must make sure that a constant supply of corn is available.

The discovery of iron and how to use it is what led us to the iron age. Several different things were produced from iron, including weapons, tools and coins...

Iron ore is what you need if you are thinking about training a powerful and deadly army. The miner will work at the iron mine mining any iron that he happens to come by. Build the iron mine attached to a mountain with a bluish hue, these are the iron veins.

Iron that had been mined was not ready to be used for tools just yet, as first it had to be refined. At later points coal was being added into the iron to make it even stronger than normally.

The metallurgist will spend his days over here by refining iron. He will add some coal into the iron as well as to make it hold out more hits. The finished iron bars that are created here can then be used for producing iron weapons and armor, or even worse, siege weapons!

The one who entered battle with weapons made of iron had a great advantage against an opponent that simply couldn't afford to produce these by far superior weapons.

To produce the most powerful weapons, you will need to get yourself a weapon smithy. Here coal and iron will be consumed so that three different kinds of mighty weapons can be created, and these are the sword, the crossbow and the pike. One weapon requires one iron and one coal to be produced.

Iron armor was significantly stronger, meaning that it was ways better to use iron armor than cloth or leather armor. On the other hand, it was a more expensive process, so less advanced civilizations had no way of receiving iron armor.

It is very difficult to win a battle without having an army that is properly equipped. It is even harder to do this without having any casualties. This is why it would be a very clever idea to give your soldiers good armor. The blacksmith working at an armor smithy can produce iron armor and shields for the price of one iron and one coal.

A war was never fought without an army. Barracks used to be places where soldiers gathered and lived. Training for the actual war was also done at a barrack. Barracks have been used since the ancient Roman times when they were mostly temporary soldier encampments.

The barracks is the mightiest of all buildings in your kingdom. One could say that it looks like a smaller castle, and this symbolizes the power that the building has. You can train a good amount of different soldiers from here, ranging from the very weak militia unit, to the feared and mighty knight. In order to train a soldier, you must have the necessary equipment needed to arm the soldier, and a recruit that is willing to take the role of the soldier.

Watchtowers have had two primary usages historically. The main purpose that they had was to keep an eye on the surroundings and make sure that no enemy was closing in. Watchtowers could also be equipped with holes from where an archer could try shooting at an enemy.

Guarding your town is made a lot easier if you construct a sufficient number of watchtowers. Here a recruit will constantly be on the look for eventual enemies and incase one comes close enough, he will throw a stone at the enemy. Unless the stone misses the target, it should be dead after only one stone.
