It seems that it's just a map with edited script, that this guy've been sending to others. With unoficial mods of map it could always be a problem. You must be aware of that when downloading map from unknown player. Same thing happened (and probably is still happening) with Randziu's Furious Warriors.
Yes, an inevitable part of allowing players to send maps to each other is that people can give a location benefits (either through the map editor or through the script) and then choose that location. You can't trust a map you downloaded from someone else. That's not hacking the game, it's cheating by convincing others to download your modified map.
I still think the benefits of transferring maps outweighs the fact that some players will use it to trick others and cheat. It's great for playing with friends when you trust the other players. It's great for map authors to test new versions of their maps. Mostly it doesn't get abused.
Maybe we need to display a warning when downloading maps to say you should only accept map transfers from players you trust? Players should be aware of this risk with modified maps.
Could be a good idea, indeed.
Or maybe create an IDE for scripting that can secure everything with a password to grant writing privileges(and for read you don't need a pass).
It could be an idea.. Perhaps.
