We are finishing bugfixing (there will be half a dozen of known bugs slipped till next release/patch though, cos you know, it's like endless process ) and working on wrapping whole thing into a nice package now. This includes proper Readme.txt, drivers distributives, installer, maps, exe icon and etc..
I don't have access to our ToDo list atm, otherwise I could've written detailed status.

All-in-all release is a matter of some few weeks.
w00t can't wait

Nice

I'm happy to announce that KaM Remake Economy Demo is ready!

Link: http://krom.reveur.de/KAM_Remake/KaM_Remake_Economy_Demo_090728.rar (use WinRAR to upack it)

Please read included Readme, it has all the info.
I'm not good with words, maybe Lewin will add more info to this post later

I'm out of luck again...
It doesn't work on my computer. It crashes after displaying the splash screen without any error message or log entry.
My OS is Windows 2003, OpenAL installed, graphics card and drivers support OpenGL 1.4.
What can I do to make it run?

That was my mistake - I forgot to test the game without pre-made ini file. Now I've uploaded fixed package (had to use the same name, new size is 10 700 830 bytes). Please redownload, sorry for my mistake

Though your reported bug is another kind. If you have no message that could mean music system is mulfunctioning - redownload and try to delete Music folder, that helps often.

We use Windows MediaPlayer for mp3 playback - it's free of charge, but works quite unstable..

WOW!

This is awesome. OK, I'm sure you will fix the bugs, but is really _feels_ like KaM. That's great.

For the bugs I noticed. I'd like to make a screenshot if it is possible somehow:

The lighthning doesn't work properly at my maching, the buldings have a dark hat and sometimes the floor tiles are black.
Sometimes the roads have the same texture as if you destroyed a building.

After a few seconds there was a "I/O error" poping up. I clicked "OK" and then the game continued.

At last, the game suddenly freezed.

Find my log file here.
Maybe this helps you.

Thanks for your feedback :)

These are known graphics bugs, we can replicate them and we'll try to fix them.

Judging from Log and IO error - did you had sound in game? Maybe you need to install OpenAL drivers included with Remake. Crash info in Log is interesting, I'll add it to our buglist now as well.

Yes, i heard sound. But only after I was thrown to the desktop to confirm that KaM may use my ffdshow-Decoder I use. I'll try again.

*edit: I tried again. This time with the native resolution of my screen. After a few minutes, I turned off the music (at this time in the log file this MCI-error appears).

And finally the game freezes.

The URL to the log file is the same as above.

We use 2 different sound systems, one for sound effects and other for mp3 playback. They are not interconnected :)

If you have music and no sound - then you can try to install OpenAL drivers. If it's the other way round (no music but effects) then there's something wrong with Windows MediaPlayer (we use it to output mp3s, so that we don't need to pay for mp3 decoder software)

I have edited my post the same minute you answered. Don't miss that. The new log file is uploaded. And I got the I/O error at least 5 times ...

Ah, now that you mention it I have no sound effects. I thought they were not yet implemented
Maybe I give OpenAL a shot.

Okay, the error looks like OpenAL related. Installing OpenAL may cure it.

As for the crash - it has something to do with pathfinding. "Unable to walk a route since it's unbuilt" most probably caused it. Means some unit walked from/to wrong spot..

A suggestion from my side: maybe it's the woodcuter oder the carpenter. These two units were trained both times it crashed.

Wow, now this was seriously a nice surprise. The KaM Remake was a lot more functional than I expected and it worked pretty much flawlessly, didn't encounter a single crash or anything like that. :D Seeing the possibility to put resolution even higher than 1280x1024 was a very welcome change, didn't expect you to have done such a feature yet. And it was the first time that I got to actually play KaM on Windows 7 without that annoying slowdown glitch. Yes, it really felt like KaM which is the most important thing and can be difficult to preserve if you don't have access to the original game source code. Seriously impressive work, I can't wait to see at what stage this project will be in a years time!

By the way, some bugs I encountered (guess you know them, but reporting never hurts):
- Occasionally when laborers where digging a road construction site they would stop at the point where they are supposed to request for stone and continue with another site, making that square unusable for road construction
- Also sometimes laborers just skipped squares that had been highlighted for road construction, removing and placing the highlight again fixed the problem
- When training a citizen at the schoolhouse, the citizen already counts for the unit total in statistics while he is being trained (queue slots don't count)

Good to know it works on Windows7 :)
Lewin pays very much attention to keep Remake as close to KaM as possible, all the little bits of it :)

Yes, KaM Remake woks at any resolution, we just listed top10 resolutions used by visitors on my site, but in theory Remake can run in any screen size that fits it's controls (1024x768+)
You can dynamicaly resize Remake window when you run it in windowed mode

We already've got some bugreports and I guess we'll dedicate next few weeks to fixing of all the bugs reported. Some of them result in crashes..

I don't know how to say it...
I am really impressed. Good job!

It seems to be stable - no crashes. Only F8 is quite laggy, but I bet it's my computer's fault.

Some bugs that I noticed:
- the statistics bug reported by Litude: cancelling trained citizen breaks the counter (e.g. you can have -5 serfs)
- when quitting mission with F8 enabled, it will be automatically turned on after starting next mission
- some texts don't fit in the left panel (e.g. laborer's "Preparing house area")
- some trees fail to disappear and keep falling forever, just like in original KaM (screen, BTW notice that there's no timber nor sawmill in this mission  )

I can also help with Polish translations.

//edit: some other bugs, tested on hidden "V" mission:
- roads/fields can be built on the map edges in spite of the red X shown; farmers can't use that field
- delivery to barracks stops at amount around 60 of ware type
