Maina.fnt happens to be the main menu font, so it's quite important :D. Basically it's just maina.fnt that is incompitable with the font from TPR, but minimapgold.fnt (used for TPR briefings) is completely missing from TSK and needs to be created.
AFAIK it was just those and then some kmlobby font files which are useless at least the way things are now.

@Lewin:
Considering that French never was an official language, it would make more sense to make it a separate patch (making sure the patcher would patch all different language versions correctly into SR3 and French could be a pain).
If what you meant was to make sure that the French translation would be up-to-date to reflect the changes in Service Release 3, then I completely agree :).

@Fitz chevalerie:
If you send me all your French TSK font files zipped via some rapidshare or similar I could help you update the font to work correctly in TPR.

I was lucky this time. Turns out the original English TPR font (SR2 replaces it with the German one?) has exactly the same letters (+ some additional ones) as the the French font, so I only had to do some minor changes to one of the fonts to make it work (add &NBS; and reduce spacing between lines).

Do tell if you still have any problems!

I can now finish the translation , and testing if all the messages and items descriptions will be on place ...

I thought I'd report some new discoveries I made as some of the information I previously posted regarding the fonts has turned out being incorrect.
As a matter of fact, maina.fnt uses a different palette in TPR than it did in TSK, but for the most part the conversion is done automatically by the game itself. However, the Russian version of TSK uses different color values for its main menu font and the colors will therefore be messed up as they are not to be used with the new palette.
Another thing I thought would be worth pointing out is that mainmapgold.fnt and maina.fnt are 100% identical in all versions of the game I know about, so you can just simply create another copy of maina.fnt and name it mainmapgold.fnt and you have the missing TPR font.
For the kmlobby%.fnt files, they are not even necessary at all but I recommend that you use the ones from German, Polish or English TPR.
Using the information above, porting the fonts from TSK to TPR should be no problem at all.

Oh and there's one little problem though, antiqua.fnt lacks the &NBS; character by default so it has to be added manually and you also need to squish the row size. To squish the row size, change the first byte with a hex editor from 0D to 0B.
Adding the &NBS; is significantly harder though, as you will have to add a lot of bytes into the EXE and the location varies depending on the font language. First you need to change the byte at $87 from 00 to 01. In the English antiqua.fnt, the location where you need to add the &NBS; code is at $30F5, but if you try adding the letter to another language font, you might have better luck looking for

Hello :)
I have problem with lib editor.. I want translate all text to lithuanian language.
All the time i see strange text.. And i cant save normal.. all the time .lib file changes to 11kb and in game text beeing randomized..

Are you sure you've got the latest version (8.5, if I'm right)? I've had this too, but that was an old version.

Tryed all versions but all similars.. and i cant fix that... And translate....

I see that you have the latest version, (in the screenshot) so that is not the problem.

Possibly you have Unicode LIB files, which my program doesn't support.

Hi Everybody,
A while ago Litude suggested an option to choose the character encoding for my LIB Decoder. I tried at the time, but I couldn't see how to. Then a few days ago, after reading the posts about the Spanish text, I thought "that can't be too hard. Why don't I try again?"
So I did. :) And here is the result:

There is now a new option under Main Menu -> File -> Character Set. I added all of the available ones which you can choose in Lazarus. I tried it with those new Spanish LIBs and it worked! If you select the ANSI character set then the Spanish characters are displayed correctly, and the Polish ones are all weird. If you select "Eastern European" then the Polish ones are fine and the Spanish ones are weird. If you select "Chinese" then all sorts of weird characters appear, but I won't go into that. :D

Now for the bad new: Russian still doesn't work. :( Even if you use the Russian character set. My guess is that KaM uses some non-standard character set for Russian, and I would need to make a custom character set for it to work. (and I have no idea how to do that) Anyway, at least I've achieved something. Oh and I haven't fixed the Unicode issues either.

Lewin! Great work!! Is possible add tabs? or recent opened file? or maybe translation for your program? If you want a translation for you program in portuguese tell me XD and...
in the about window is good to put a link for your website @__@
Ah! and I've found a bug... when the application is opened the icon doesn't display

What do you want tabs for?

Recent files is possible, but it would require a config INI file which I was trying to avoid. (currently you only need the EXE to run it)
However, if you think it's worth it then please say so.

I have thought about translating it, but I thought that the program was so simple that it's hardly nececary. A German who knows no English could very easily click on the standard "Open" icon and then edit the German words. And also this program is more advanced, so beginers won't really need to use it. Translations make programs complicated, and make releases slow. But that's not to say I couldn't do it.

Putting a link to my site in About is a good idea.

The icon bug happens for all of my programs. (mission editor included) It's something to do with my programming language, and I've never really bother to find out why. I could probably fix it if I really wanted to, but it's not that important IMO.

You could dump the INI data in the registry, it's a bit crude but it would work in a way you can still move the exe as much as you want and you only have 1 file..

I happened to test the LIB Editor with the Russian SR3 and after changing the encoding everything displayed completely fine?
