I think TK was referring to the shadows dropped by the buildings themselves. (the "every second pixel is black" thing in the house images) True, that is not a good way to do shadows but it would be hard to fix because they are still being rendered as images, and we don't have the 3D models.
I think they look ok as is.

Maybe we can blend them in some sort of uniform value. This can be done programaticaly before texture generation, but will use more RAM.

The game takes place in the Middle Ages! Not 2009!
So no, not a good idea. ( For me ).

you could make some sort of thieves, walls, caves, etc.

and i have a game(the setlers heritage of kings+expantion disk)
an thare thay have some sort of snipers..
and cannons..
