I was thinking in all this food issue about beta testing... what about improving Wine restoration from 20% to 30%?
In my opinion the change is worthy, we all know setting 1 vineyard requires lots of timber, and its working rate is preety low.

We would have 4 nice values to combine:
Wine -> +30
Bread -> +40
Fish -> +50
Sausage -> +60

The woodcutters has two options:
-plan and cut
-only cut

Possible a third function or does it have future:
-only plan?
i see many players built them nearly together (sometimes 4-5buildings)(also AI).

@Jeronimo: I agree that winefields are almost useless now. 20% is tiny, and the fields cost an extra 16 timber to build on top of the cost of the house. Anyone else want to comment?

@thunder: How does a "plant only" option help? You can't make things more efficient by using it, the only time it's useful is if you want to stop wood production for a bit, but there are other ways to do that like blocking delivery of tree trunks to other places. I guess your idea is to have one woodcutter planting and one cutting, that's not more efficient or better than having 2 woodcutters doing both.

The reason we have a "cut only" option is so you can clear the trees from an area. There's no reason to want to fill an area with trees as far as I can see :P

i've got another suggestion. after playing a couple of multiplayer games, i think it would be great to have a scout/explorer type unit to do some.. exploring :P
it's pretty hard sometimes to plan your base/town when you don't know exactly where the resources are. if you have a explorer unit from the start (or if you can train one from the school), you can explore some more of the area and it would be easier to make an effective town. especially for new players (like myself) and players that are not so skilled. because there's so many maps and each has 4-8 different locations, it would be much easier to plan your town according to locations of resources. ofcourse, the unit would not be militairy, so it would have very low hitpoints (like bowman) and no attack. perhaps, give it a high need of food (like it needs to eat twice as quick as other units) so it cannot walk to the end of the map.

also, i would like to bring my previous suggestion back to your attention because no one has responded to it yet.

If I think deeper in it, it remains being tiny with 30%.

You need like 16-20 timber for each Vineyard (plantations).
Produces x1 every 50 secs, slower than Bakery (38 secs), Butchery (35 secs).
Market value of Wine is lowest, it is considered as low as Fish/Corn.

But +30%? Still crappy to be honest.
If we consider its high building cost, slow work rate and producing x1... I suggest a real +50%.
Not every player/map has access to fishes, so Wine could be the one to restore +50% as replacement.

Yes... +50% x1 and as slow as Fisher (which at least produces +50% x2).
What do you think people? Could be the best change for incorporating this building into our strategies.

I like 1x50 tough it looks exagerated, it is correctly balanced.
When people eats usually is satisfied with a food and a good drink... so %50 isn't unrealistic.

@Da Revo: It would be sad to change the growing rate since it's exactly the same as growing corn (after sowed of course).
But the funny fact is that he takes 50 secs per 1 barrel... why not making this barrel give 50 condition as well?

If the biggest problem goes by reacommodating values at storehouses from maps... it is possible to do so (and imagine the starting values, like 30 units from every food, a good example).

I like the idea that gives x1, since it makes it unique. Bread/Fish is x2, Sausage is x3.

There are several ways to make it better, keeping 1 thing as original production of wine... being produced x1.

a) Faster field growth: once built it can grow at half speed (actually preety fast), you use 12 timbers instead of 20.
b) Faster working rate: he recollects grapes, but then doesn't jump around 35 sec, but 15 sec instead.
c) Better condition: All the same as now, but gives an incredible +50% per unit (needs rebalance in many Maps storehouses).
d) Vineyard cheaper: Just -1 stone/-1 timber. Hit points: 250.

Perhaps slight combinations of these will give Vineyard the attention it should deserve. :)
A+B: Working faster means you would need more fields at normal growth rate, but no if A is active (fast re-growth).
A+C: Less wine fields required, and it gives x1 "fish" (50 condition).
C+D: This would actually be my favourite... but others are fine too.

C way to make it more benefit isn't good, wine IMO is only addition to main food.

I personally think A+B are the best ways.

I think bread is more effective for feeding army, cos 2 breads are delivered..

for me very good idea. it make wine more valuable peacefull form..
