Save migration?

I have purchased KaM from GOG for a while. But not till now I find this mod. I have downloaded and install the remake. However, I am wondering since I am still in middle of the game (just finish Mission 13 and at beginning of Mission 14), will I be able to migrate the saves so I do not need to play from Mission 1 again?

Also I cannot remember whether I am playing shattered kingdom or rebellion (as it's really about 2 years ago that I started playing this game), is there any way to distinguish them?

No, savegames are not compatible in any combinaions between TSK -TPR - any versions of KaM Remake.

This is caused by internal structure differences, because savegames are essentially snapshots of game state (memory) and in each of the versions the state differs because of various features added/changed.

When you play KaM Remake campaigns they are compatible between versions though (r3392, r2376, etc) because they save campaign progress (map number). So when you enter campaign screen you will be able to choose your last mission.

Thanks. I will finish the original game first then.

That would be best, since campaigns are quite balanced there. KaM Remake is aimed more at multiplayer. That means that certain gameplay features required for campaigns are not implemented/tested/balanced as thouroughly as they need to be.

There was a way to skip missions by messing with the save files, right?

Not the save files, the mission files. If the game (TPR or TSK) fails to find a mission file, you win the mission instantly. So if you move the mission files you want to skip somewhere else, those missions are skipped. For the TSK campaign the mission files are "mission##.dat" and for TPR they are "dmission##.dat".
Cheers,
Lewin.

I guess it's still a usable trick to use, if the OP will still even read this. :P
