This is not a bug. Mission 4 TPR has a losing condition where if all serfs and schools for any single player are destroyed, you will lose. Therefore, to avoid losing, assure that each village has at least one school or serf that survives. To win, you must defeat all enemy soldiers, and destroy all enemy military buildings.
What are military buildings? I do not know for sure. It obviously includes all buildings that make weapons and maybe the tannery, iron smithy, and mines. Oddly, however, it does not include towers.
Of course, if this is all too complicated, you could just press f11 to open debugging panel, enable developer cheats, and finally press "v" on your keyboard to automatically achieve victory.

We've got a lot of complaints about this mission. Winning conditions are rather tricky to figure out. It would be much better if KaM had a "Goals:" tab somewhere which clearly stated what needs to be done to win (and to lose).

I don't think there should be a mission where you are required to NOT destroy something that you are allowed to attack. If there are innocent villages, they should be allied to you so your soldiers will not kill them. I think this would be a better solution than showing the goals, since the player is already reminded twice in messages that you must not kill the citizens of the enemy. If people don't read the messages I doubt they will read the goals section either.

Well i actually like this mission, exactly because you have to read the message Xd However I don't agree with Lewin. I think the kam developers wanted to show, that you are the commander and you can decide who or what you want to attack actually

In other games, maybe thr next mission would just run without your ally, because you killed him. In KaM you just loose
I think in sp missions, in strategy games like kam, you have to read these texts. Same like for new missions like Vas' campaign. You also have to read, that you have to make gold, iron, coal in one mission, to win Xd

The problem with texts:
- if you have overlooked and deleted the message, you can't possibly figure out the winning conditions
- texts are often ignored by enthusiastic players (f.e. I have ignored most of the TSK storyline when I played for the first time)
- texts are vague. What are exactly those "military buildings"?
- texts present information in lengthy and illogical way
Goals on the other hand are widely accepted in many genres (incl RTS)
@Lewin: I think it is okay to let player into life-like situations where mistakes count in general. Except for cases like KaM where soldiers auto-attack enemy citizens. This is completely separate topic to goals though.

@Krom: This is the only mission I know of where you are not allowed to kill something belonging to your enemies. In every other KaM mission you are free to go and destroy everything that belongs to your enemy.
It also seems kind of inconsistent with the story, since you will not lose unless you kill every citizen. So if you kill all except for one of the enemy citizens you will not lose. Surely if they are innocents you would lose as soon as you kill one of them?

One serf is enough to bring wine and beer to the King. That should be enough
