A new demo of The Shattered Kingdom available

All German speaking people, rejoice! The German version of The Shattered Kingdom demo has found its way onto the website. It is quite an early version of the game itself (0.91) so it won't quite give you the correct picture of the game, but could be quite interesting nonetheless for people who like to see how the game has evolved. You can find the demo from the advanced files part of the downloads section. Here is a direct link to the download.
Huge thanks go to Thunderwolf for locating this demo and sending it to me!

Hi Litude,
Great news.
One thing that I noticed: The text file here has not been updated to say that you now have the demo. (the link to this is on the download page) You should update that.
Also, I noticed that many of the demos in advanced are not hosted on your site (there is only one mirror, and it's on a gaming website somewhere) Is this because of a space limit with x10hosting? If it's not then I think it would be worth having a local copy for the second mirror, in case the current one goes down. Here are the ones that are not hosted locally:
The Peasants Rebellion 1.471 Demo (BlackStar)
The Shattered Kingdom 0.73 Demo
The Shattered Kingdom MorphOS Demo
The Shattered Kingdom Linux Demo
German version of The Peasants Rebellion 1.471 Demo (ZuXXeZ) (FTP links are a bad idea, some people might not know how to use them. I would there for also make a mirror of the English copy too)
The Peasants Rebellion Czech Translation

I know that some of these files are not very important, but it would be a shame if the current download site goes down and they are lost forever.
If you've done this due to space restrictions then I understand and ignore this.
Lewin.

Yeah but sadly I currently only have around 30 MB of unused space, but I'm constantly checking the links in the downloads section to make sure there aren't any dead mirrors. I'm quite confident that Filefront will be around for quite long but there are some files hosted in very random places, but incase they go down I do have copies on my HD which I intend to upload somewhere to make them accessable again.

Ok, I understand. If you have backups then that's ok. I was thinking, I could host a mirror of these files for you. I have ~30GB of free disk space on my web server. The only issue is, it's quite slow (only ~52KB/s) and it's in Australia so it might be slower from Europe/USA. But if you're interested then let me know and I'll host the ones I mentioned for you.
Yeah, Filefront won't go away. The only one I was really worried about was the FTP link.
Lewin.

Actually I might be interested. I'll need to do some checking as to what I would need more mirrors for. It feels safe to have that extra 50mb space on my host so I won't be adding any additional demos here.

The FTP links are the official links provided by ZuXXeZ for the demo downloads, so in that sense they should be reliable. Still, the IP address of the FTP server did change once but I'm hoping it was just some strange mess up on ZuXXeZ part.

Ok, well just let me know. I think my webserver is soon going to be move to a connection with about 3 times that speed. Remember, space is no issue for me.

I'm not worried about it going away, I just think FTP links are a pain to download with.

Sounds nice . I'll need to take a look at files in need of hosting a bit later.

Personally don't really see the difference between downloading something off a FTP protocol or HTTP.

or, if you want, I could also host a copy of them, myhosting247 has a speed of up to 300kB/s, and I have about a 4,5GB unused space. Downside of myhosting247: direct links may have to be 'refreshed' (clicking the go button).

You can get around that. Create an HTML page that will refresh to the download file, and point people at the HTML file.
e.g. create an HTML file with this in the header: (inside the <HEAD> tags)
  Code:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=ADownload.zip">[/quote] And then when people go to that page it shall send them the file. No off site link issues. Create one page for each file. Let me know if that works. Lewin.

It does...

Can't believe I didn't think of refreshing to the link
