@MaxDeus: You can do that without dynamic scripts already. You can make the AI equip soldiers fast enough to be able to attack every 10 minutes (with a repeating AI attack) and then set the recruit delay so they don't start training any recruits until 55 minutes (so the first attack won't be triggered until then because they won't have enough troops). It's not possible to make an AI attack occur exactly every 10 minutes since the trigger is based off the number of soldiers the AI has, but by adjusting the equip rate you should be able to get it close.
Just checking in on something I asked a long time ago: Will we be able to mute the chat of other players in the next release? It's really annoying when people spam the chat...
Do you mean hiding chat of individual players, or of all players, or just disabling the sound? Disabling the sound would be ok but I don't like the idea of hiding chat from other players because it discourages team player and socialising, and chat messages without sound are easy to ignore anyway.
Perhaps some sort of spam detection tool? After a certain amount of messages are sent in a short time span you get a 5 minute "gag," so to speak. Probably more work than it's worth though.

You can't force people to participate in teamplay. In fact, most people won't listen either way. There are language barriers, too. Nevertheless, you are correct. Being able to mute, even the enemy, is not perfect. John's idea of a cool-down has been mentioned before, and seems like a better solution.

If the cool-down is implemented, please ensure that it also works for the in-game lobby, as it is (or at least was) possible to crash a server by spamming chat.

I would like a mute button quite better. It´s just the most user friendly thing. When people would start to insult you in-game, just because you are a beginner for example, this player has no possibilites to do anything in that game, except for leaving the game(What I saw quite often). It hasn´t big negative points in my opinion, because you can demute someone for example OR when a player will mute someone, just because he doesn´t like to hear on him, it doesn´t matter if he will be muted or not, he will still ignore the commands of the "better players" :P

The deciding factor for me was that I won't be able to say "glhf" or "gg" in games, which is very important for me :)

I just wrote a post, but let me add this to Pawel's very reasonable suggestion: if we have mutes, maybe we could at least make them by default disabled?

I would agree. To mute someone is an additional option and it should be disabled by default(like in most other games). And I would like, that players still can see placed beacons(maybe spamstop for that like someone said before), because like in dota, when you mute someone, he can´t see also when someone is pinging the player. That´s bad in my opinion, because placing beacons is one of most important things, for communication at random/not-ts guys :-)

I don´t know, but is it hard to implement some new tiles?
It would be a pleasure to see tiles like goldmountain to water and grass or *nope* parts, that always are missing and everybody tries to hide them, like in the picture.

I've made some new tiles, but Krom is very reluctant to implement them. In short, adding new tiles to the Remake would make the maps unreadable by traditional editors, such as Krom's.

Adding new tiles is quite a major change because KaM is already at the 256 tile limit supported by the original map format. So if we extended it that would break all backwards compatibility (although we could make it load maps in the old format, but the new format would not be supported by any old editors/Remake versions). It's something we will consider in the future (after the next release) I think.

Regarding muting, I feel like it will make the game more anti-social. I can imagine quite a few players will just mute everyone as soon as the game starts (or even as soon as they join the lobby) because they don't want to talk to anyone and prefer to play anonymously in isolation. It might become normal to just mute everyone as soon as the game starts. In random games every time I write a message in chat I would be thinking "why bother, most people probably muted anyway". I think chat would get used a LOT less in random games if there was muting.

I can understand finding the sound annoying and wanting to disable it when people are chatting a lot but I don't really like the idea of blocking chat completely.

Chat spamming should have been fixed a few releases ago. The problem was when someone copy and pasted several megabytes into chat. Frequency was never an issue as far as I am aware.

The part of chat spam that annoys me is less to do with the sound and more to do with not being able to chat while people are spamming. That is, if someone is spamming chat, how am I to message someone else? The chat will quickly be over-ridden by the spammer. Scrolling back through the log is neither effective or reasonable in such a situation.

@Lewin: Maybe yu can make it like this next time: Write what update it will be, so that everybody knows what will be changed next time, e.g. Landscape-update or AI-update. And maybe the ideas(comming then) for the changes are more interesting for you. You know what i mean?
It is a fantasy, but maybe you can give us the "easy" scripting parts, so that you have time for the bigger ones? Only make a topic and say what you want. Would this be help you too?

And: What about the idea, that the player can deside which campain he want to play, like in Command and Conquer Red Alert 1. He can deside beween 2 missions to choose?!

Well I have to tell you that chat isn't used in random games really, even now when you ask sometimes, noone answers, the only thing that most randoms write is like "gg. We lost brcause of the f**** noob in my team" or other usuall random insults. So in my opinion it's still a good idea. Even at some ffa games when the enemy team is too "stupid" to use their team chat, anf you just get messages every 5 sec on a language that you completely don't understand! So what does these spams help me, when I don't understand a word and they don't say a sjngle word in english, in the whole game? In such cases it would be cool to just be able to mute, to be able to concentrate on your music in the background and your economy Xdd

Hey, why can we not copy text sent via chat? Is it because of technical issues or just hasn't been though of yet? It really is needed for many reasons :|

@Ben: for technical reasons - we don't have text selection nowhere in KaM controls, so without being able to select the text it's pretty much hopeless to try to copy something specific. That's on our todo list iirc.

Okay, great. Thanks for letting me know :)

Also, now that the Remake has replaced the original font with this other font (which, for the record, looks very ugly in my opinion), can we finally use italics for server messages? :)
