Also, should it mark you as unready if the host changes your team?
Anytime the host changes settings I think that non-spectators should be set to unready. The same goes for gamespeed and peacetime length, imo.

Re: Official KaM Remake Ideas topic

I think It's reasonable for player to agree for new location or team settings. I can also imagine a situation (rare, but still), where host wants to troll some good player just before the PT and changes his location (after pausing the game of course). With auto unready feature this wouldn't happen.

Self changing ready status when host changes gamespeed or PT length might be annoying, but would prevent changing settings just before game start. On the other hand, it's not that often, that host does this kind of trolling. So I don't think it's necessary.

That's poor reasoning, because in the future such trolling may indeed become popular. Besides, I think you underestimate how much it happens already...

Re: Official KaM Remake Ideas topic

Ok, I will make it so if the host changes your location or team you are marked as unready, since that makes sense (the player must agree to the changes).

Can we get some other opinions on whether changing peacetime/game speed should set EVERYONE as unready? I feel like this will really slow down starting games if you decide that 65 minutes PT would be better than 60 at the last moment. On the other hand, all players are set to unready when the map is changed so it might not make much difference, and would probably be more consistent (all players must agree to any change to the game settings).

If you are worried about games taking to long to start you can make it so the host can force start the game.
Aka: When the host clicks Force start, and if no one disagrees (in for a certain time limit) the game will start.

I don't like it. It seems sloppy and it can be used to trick people who are on a smoke, toilet break, or are otherwise similarly occupied.

Re: Official KaM Remake Ideas topic

I'm working through my todo list. Someone reported this issue:
"When I'm a spectator and am ready, the host is able to move me to a location and push start because I'm still ready"

To fix this I've made it so whenever the host changes your location it marks you as unready (regardless of whether you are a spectator or not). This appears to make sense since that player should be given a chance to agree to the change. Does that sound reasonable or will that be annoying?

Also, should it mark you as unready if the host changes your team?

I want to go back to this point here. One thing about trolling, again :P I saw some games in the normal release ( I tried it also some times) that if player don´t like to play with x1 speed for example or wanna play with higher peacetime, just set the settings they want and wait until all press ready. After that the host can just change the settings fast and the players are still ready, so the host can start the game with changed settings :D :D

So in my opinion, i would like to see also sth like that for Peacetime. I am not sure how. Sometimes all 8 players are ready and then the host sees "oh I haven´t set PT yet". So making all players UNREADY, just because he changes a setting, seems also a little bit strange. However we need something to make the host less powerfull in this case

EDIT: Ok I will never find a day where I haven´t to read all previous posts, because I have no time, unless I mention things that are already written down :? Nvm, I added the SpeedSetting Story XD

Re: Official KaM Remake Ideas topic

That's not a big thing for player to set status again to ready. You can as well not press ready until host set everything.

One thing about spectating: is it possible to have only spectators on map, without players? It would be useful when we want to talk about (new) map. To point flaws and good things and discuss them.

Ok, I'm convinced that the ready status should be reset for all players when the game options (PT/speed) are changed. It's implemented.

No, there must be at least one player. But you can add 1 or more AIs then spectate like that which should be all you need.

Re: Official KaM Remake Ideas topic

@Lewin: I was wondering is it possible to implement from technical point of view (no players, just spectators). I know I can do what you've wrote, but that's more work* :).

Also, I noticed something strange right now, I think it's a bug. I wrote it here: Bugs topic

*Well, I was too lazy with that case :). It's easy to do when I got used to it (it's gonna be easy when the bug is removed).

Yes it's possible, but I'd have to check a few places in the code that might depend on having at least one player. Given that it's only useful in very rare conditions and it's extremely simple to add an AI in the lobby (2 mouse clicks) I don't think it's worth implementing (for now anyway).

Re: Official KaM Remake Ideas topic

I really don't see the point either. Besides, with Skype and Teamspeak, this option would be pretty worthless anyway.

However, could you please make it possible for spectators to place blueprints? T'would be very useful for seeing if an area is "buildable" and also to lay out how you think the city is going, etc. This might be really tricky; though, because the spectator team would see them, but not the normal players. I guess it could just be that if a normal player puts a blueprint over a spectator's blueprint, the spectator print gets removed.

That sounds pretty confusing to me. Those blueprints would need to look very different from the player blueprints, and be very clear that they are for decorative purposes only.

Re: Official KaM Remake Ideas topic

not sure if someone wrote about this.
In the original KaM, when you attack enemy melee group, this group starts storm attack after a while. When you try to run, enemy group will pursue you and storm again and again:

what if we implement this in the Remake? ;)
