2 server questions

Hello,

I speak on behalve of Flawless Gaming, a multigaming community that has decided to pick up KAM.

We are running about 4 - 5 KAM servers on our VPS and we had 2 questions about that.

1) How many recoures (RAM, processor, etc) do you need for just 1 server to run properly?
2) We have noticed that our servers become a little bit buggy after a game. Everytime we play in one of our servers the server server doesn't seem to appear in the server list again after we are done playing on it, forcing us to restart it manually.

Re: 2 server questions

There's no need to run 5 separate servers. Each server is capable of running 32 rooms iirc.

Is there a tutorial for this or something? Answering my question with 1 word doesn't help.

Well, I don't think there's really a tutorial for KaM Server specifically, but running any kind of server requires at least 2 things:

- Allowing the right ports through the firewall OR disabling the firewall
- Forwarding the right port(s) in your router.

Since you've stated the firewall is disabled, have you forwarded the KaM Remake server port (56789 by default) in your router?

Can you post you server's IP address? If it is running I can try to see if your port is forwarded correctly.

Well, I am running one from home and one from a VPS. Both firewall are disabled and ports have been forwarded.

IP VPS: 5.196.148.221 Port: 16789
IP Home: 62.194.11.91 port: 56789

IP VPS: 5.196.148.221 Port: 16789
IP Home: 62.194.11.91 port: 56789
Both are working fine, so it seems your servers are running OK.

What's the problem again? :P

Well, I don't know how to run multiple servers with 1 client.

Also, everytime someone plays on one of the servers and is done playing, the server doesn't reappear in the server list. Instead it gets that query error on the website for some reason.

Re: 2 server questions

Like Krom stated, you just run 1 KaM server per system. The server itself creates multiple rooms.

So if you start your server, it spaws one room. If that room fills with players, it will create another room, etc. So you don't need to run multiple servers per system. I think that's your problem, especially if you're running them all on the same port number.

Well, I just want to fill the serverlist with a few servers so everone can play. It would be our contribution, plus it allows us to maximize our VPS to its fullest.

Also, I have created all servers under different ports. The server I am hosting at home (only 1) has the same problems; it allows people to play and when the game it finishes it just freaks out somehow and doens't show up in the serverlist anymore.

Re: 2 server questions

Hmm I see. I think Lewin's the one you need to answer your question, but afaik he's taken some kind of a 'KaM holiday'. Haven't seen him around for a while, but I'm sure he'll be back soon.

Or maybe Krom knows something more about the server itself.
