Re: PAKER TEAM Maps [MULTI]

Heh... My Team play .... in map The Journey... and they says: map SUX ! : D
I must fix .... . .. . . . .. .. .. . . . . . . . .. . . . .. . . .. .

I go to editor....... goodbye.... :(
Paker, I believe that your problem is that you don't take enough time to make your maps. Look at Dark Lord, for example. He takes months to make a single map. This may seem silly, but is it really better to have ten maps made in a week that are never played, or one map in 10 months that is played hundreds of times a week?

I'm going to be completely honest to you. Please understand that I'm trying to be helpful when I say that your maps are of very poor quality and very ugly. I see a glimmer of hope in the second screenshot of your latest map (the one with the waterfall). It is clear that you are starting to pay more attention to fine details. Objects are placed with more logic, and terrain blends nicer.
Again: Take your time. Look at every single tile, every single object. Does it really look great there? Would something else fit better? The terrain brush is quick to use but makes the land look very poor. Look through the tile section and replace tiles with ones that look more fitting.
You have the willpower to make a great map, Paker. You just need to be patient with yourself, and I'm sure that you can make a beautiful map :)

Re: PAKER TEAM Maps [MULTI]

From the screenshots:

- General: I see a lot of thin white mountains. They look very ugly since they are almost flat and KaM's relief mechanics almost require at least a two-tile wide mountain. Make them a bit thicker or remove them all-together.
- Some object spam is ridiculous, like the fields in the 3rd picture or the evergreen trees in the 6th.

Screenshot 1) The storehouse is so crammed! You do this a lot and it is very annoying. How are people supposed to make a good city here? It's impossible. You need to make a long road away from your storehouse just to make your school! And the congestion will be terrible. If you're not going to test each location yourself, at least use the editor to plan a town so you can see how it will be done. Try to visualize what the city will be like when you are making the map

Screenshot 2) The white mountains here a terribly ugly. Also, the bridge looks strange. Make the railing of the bridge cover all the sides, not just part of them.

Screenshot 3) Like I said before, the fields here are kinda out of place. More of the thin white mountain

Screenshot 4) This one actually looks pretty good! :) I like the waterfall, but the mountain above the it needs to be more sheer. The trees to the left of the storehouse look out of place and they should be removed to clear up building room anyway. Also, try not to elevate the sides of mountains too much like you did with the stone deposit; it makes the mountains look bad.

Screenshot 5) As I've said before, I don't like wooden bridges over anything but chasms, but that's a personal preference. The lake would look better if the little islands were removed.

Screenshot 6) Again, those evergreen trees look very bad. Put something else there, or at least make a better attempt at a forest (use more than one kind of tree object, and place some sticks, mushrooms, stumps etc. in it). Those straight green trees are placed funky in this screenshot since they are aligned so perfectly. Make it a little more random so it looks natural.

Good luck with the future improvements. :)

I think the thin mountains in the 1st screenshot look quite good, but in the other screenshots I think they should be a bit wider so the ground around them isn't elevated so much (especially the 2nd one). I don't really like when the mountain starts half way up the slope.

Yeah, that's a good way of explaining it. I am with Lewin here, make sure that the mountain starts when the slope starts-- it looks much better :)

Does the game even support potential 3v3v3s? Sounds fun though!!

Re: PAKER TEAM Maps [MULTI]

I doubt that players will like a 3v3v3 map. As with free-for-all, 3v3v3 leaves the attack susceptible to invasion from another team; which leads to camping. But with dynamic scripts, it may be playable...

Anyway, I have a question: Which members of Paker team are most responsible for the map, "Battle Sun"?

Re: PAKER TEAM Maps [MULTI]

I did just the mountains, but only just started the adventure with the editor. Besides, I see that most of the mountains Paker changed for the worse. As for the 4v1 map is added to the player's fifth elevation, because the previous version was uglier. At the moment I do not have time for the editor (only in the holidays).

Re: PAKER TEAM Maps [MULTI]

Overall, I say that you have improved on your map-making, PAKER. Yet, I still see ugly object spam in some places, your white mountains are still quite poor (opinion of mine and others, if this is your style, so be it, but still...), and building still looks terribly strange in some locations.

Definitely your best looking map so far! Keep working on it! :)

Please show me better white mountains. I don't know what fix exactly.

Your mountains look like the ones on the left. The are narrow, and the actual mountain tiles start half-way up the slope. On the right, you see that the mountains transition with the elevation and are wider to support it.
