One of the members on this forum wrote the code to implement this (you'd see a field-of-influence when you click on the building). I don't know what became of that code; though, because it isn't in the latest beta.
In the Remake, workers don't have a radius in which they work but rather a distance they will travel. The key difference is that workers won't walk around a huge mountain to reach resources. Traveling up/down/left/right takes 1 tile, traveling diagonally among these directions takes about 1.6 tiles. Woodcutters travel 12 tiles; fisherman 14. I don't know farmers, but it is about 10-14 (I think). Stonemasons is very large; even as much as 16ish.
P.S.,
Farmers can gather most corn when they have a 16 fields. However! if you placed a farm where there is no corn already grown and you plan on placing more farms nearby, (for example, your first farm) it is nice to place about 20 or more fields, since he will have a small amount of idle time with 16 fields. The extra fields wont help himself produce more corn, but they will get corn production started in your next farm sooner (confusing, I know

)
I used to spam this forum so much...
