My map is gone

So yesterday I wanted to work on my new 6p map, when I tried to open the map an error window showed up...

if I would have made some decent back-ups I wouldn't care, BUT as the idiot I am I didn't make any good back-ups...
is there a way to fix this, cause I'm not gonna make this map again from scratch.

I obviously don't know why this is happening. However, if this was happening to me, first thing I would try is loading it with an earlier version of the Remake. If that didn't work I'd try loading it with Krom's editor. If that didn't work...well I'd be stumped. Go try these though. Might help

Don't lost hope, if Lewin's around he might have a solution for that. For now, try what Ben've wrote.

Also, maybe try deleting script file (if map has one) and opening it again. Of course, first of all, make a back up of it

after trying to open it in r5503 it only got worse...
my 'map file' Isn't even in the map list, while it is in the map folder. So its not even registered as a map anymore(neither in r5503 and r6720).

Also you might want to pay attention to your HDD (on which map was?) and antivirus, cos if some malfunction/virus fills files with zeroes it could fail big soon.

it's probably fine, this map error bug has happened to me before(on different computers), but those times I had good back-ups so I never cared about recovering the map file.
I already deleted the map file so I'm not worried.

This does not sound right. KaM Remake is not capable of erasing files. Something in common between those computers might be responsible.

Could be a piece of software he installed on all of them.
And a 0-filled file is something you would expect from a virus, like cryptolocker.
Could also be a pirated OS, some do actually have faulty bits and pieces in them, like remade NTFS or FAT drivers or a badly cracked kernel, causing data loss.
Running a few virus scans never hurts.

Personally I have never had any such issue with KMR nor KP where the full map went to smithereens like that. (Only once in KP but it was a quick fix for Krom. )
