i have played again today. ANd i must say, there are some missing features.

- room/lobby
- ingame alliance button to make friendly troops (like TPR)
- user kick out of room button

All in all, not one game crash and no synchro bugs. Very stable! High regards from me!

we played well except the large laggy starting later
but we had lots of army i think it was laggy for that

I'm making a very simple fair (I think) 8 player multiplayer map in 192*192 (which will be supported in the next demo iirc)
It is a totally unnatural map, and it's far from looking perfect.

Every player has the very same area, with all the ressources and in the valley in the middle there are some more ressources

I want to know what you think, is that a good idea to mke such a fair map ? If you like it I'll improve the overall looking of mountains and do some minor tweaks.
I did it so no archer can attack on the other side of moutains between players. I think it can create some great fights to control the valley.

It's named The Valley Of Dangers :wink:

Such maps sux. It's brutal hard to come in. Bowmen could shout from inside of your troops.

Castle Defense, an original map, is much better than and looks better!

They cannot shoot through moutains between the players
And for the map, it's my first map, and as I said I still have to improve.

I checked all biuw's files and they are exactly the same as mine.
I'm still not sure what the problem might be. Is there anything different or unusual about his computer? Did you install it inside KaM so it would be loading those data files or something? I'm really puzzled by this one. Try deleting the save file and making sure he can no longer select it from the lobby. If the save you deleted still appears in the lobby, then you are deleting it from the wrong place.
Edit: I decided to make two 8 player maps after I finished the one I'm working on now. One will be more or less symmetrical for the people who want to play a real fair match, and the other one will not be symmetrical at all for the people who think symmetrical maps are uninteresting.
Sounds awesome! I don't mind some symmetrical maps but I like non-symmetrical ones too as they are fun to explore.

Improved lobby/kick have been implemented.
Changing alliances during the game is implemented right now, but can be exploited so we disabled it. If I have a large group of soldiers fighting and I want to make them run away from the battle, I can change to be allied with you and they will do so.
I think if we do end up supporting this change, then it should be agreed on in some way. I'd also like to keep it as "teams" rather than "alliances" as in 99% of cases it is useless to be able to fight someone who does not fight back. We do plan to support this feature long term, we just need to find a way to make it hard to exploit.

I think it looks cool and would be interesting to play, resulting in totally different playing styles styles. Please continue work on it and I'll happily include it with the Remake :)
You'll need to use my script editor to complete the mission as my mission editor doesn't support 8 players. I recommend you create two mission files, one with players 1,2,3,4,5,6 and the other with 7 and 8. I can show you how to merge them together, talk to me on MSN some time :)
Also it would be nice if you could make the terrain more varied. E.g. maybe some players area could be surrounded by water of the same size as the hill for other players, and some could be surrounded by a different hill type, and the ground could be a different style like dirt. One play could even have lava in the hill surrounding them. Add some random map objects like mushrooms, sticks and rocks that can be built on so do not impact gameplay. And one of the small blockages in the middle outside of two bases could be a mound of the "rough" grass type with the blocked object placed on it for some more variation. (once again, some could be made of water too) These are just ideas and maybe you want to make it all look the same, so feel free to ignore me :P

That's your own opinion, don't make generalisations by assuming no one will like it. Also, I bet you've never played a map like this one so you don't actually know that it wouldn't work, you're assuming. I can understand why you might not like it because it's not the KaM style of nice realistic terrain but please don't be so harsh and rude, (saying "I don't like the look of this map" rather than "this map sux!" would be far more constructive and pleasant) I think this map has a lot of potential, but that's my personal opinion. It's completely different from Castle Defence because it has 8 players, less space to build in and only a narrow space in the middle.

Edit: Yes 192x192 will be fully supported in the next demo. We could make it larger, but then the minimap won't fit on the side panel. (with 1 pixel per tile) We'll either have to scale it (which will probably look bad) or something, any ideas?

There is not much progress. The first picture is how it was, the second picture is how it is now.
I decided to name the map 'Warfare in the Wilderness'.

I wouldn't say this map sucks but everything is too squared. It just is too unnatural.
I'd say it isn't such a good idea to make this kind of maps. In Three Continents(which are actually four) I like one of the top left places to start, I can adapt my tactics to the terrain, in your map it is always the same terrain.

Yes I can understand that it isn't the style of everyone, I also like very much natural maps with different areas.
I did this map mainly to have fun, fair games, and trust me they are still different tactics to play :p It'll not depend on different terrain for each location but I'll list some :
-you can create a huge defense at your entrance and keep safe from attacks while other players are killing each other but you'll have limited space to deal with
-you can try to "rush" by expanding your city outside of your area in the valley very early, to gain some key positions/ressources, but you have the high risk of being attacked while doing this
-you can do an early siege with some towers blocking the entrance to the ennemy area and try to get in with an army after you got a better economy than the ennemy
-you also can work in teams , they are different configurations like free for all, 2v2v2v2 or 4v4
For the second one(2 players per team), you can deal with your ally to create a fortress in the valley in a position that helps both of you.
For the the 4v4 you can do left vs right or top vs bottom , this totally changes the game.
And I say this without even having played the map, so they might be some other tactics to discover :p

I can understand that you dislike the look, I'll do what lewin said (thanks to him !) and change the look of areas without making them different (still exactly the same space to build), I'll also add some decorations.
I need to think a bit to add some more ressources to gain in the middle, for even more challenge ;p Maybe I'll do erverything less "squary" but the areas have to be exactly the same.

I also agree about this

in my opinion
your 'Warfare in the Wilderness' named map will be very awesome good
So please just keep your good talent and keen to finish this map

I believe We all will welcome, and will like this map.
I have one question about this map
will this map be able to be played by 8 players?
And i also would be interested in the amount of hours it takes you to make a map completely like this one.


@GreatWhiteBear: I dont know your own multipalyer maps that you make
could i see all of your finished or work in progress maps that you wish to play in the remake with us?

1st one is a 1vs1 multiplayer map, tested together with my brother. Was my first finished map, with the Remake map editor(not Krom's)

2nd is a Co-op mission which is made with the Remake map editor and also is my first try with Lewin's mission editor.

I currently am thinking about creating a huge multiplayer fighting map with a base with towers and lots of food.
