One question

Hi

I have a problem. I can not make screenshots of Knights and Merchants.
I've tried the program "Fraps", the "Print Screen Pet System" and others.
Could I have a solution?
Thanks and regards

There are several ways:
1) download the screenshot fix from this site
2) use the DirectX control panel - go to the DirectDraw tab, Enable PrintScreen Key (DX7-) (despite that DX7- it works for all versions of DirectX)
3) manually fix the registry instead of letting the fix do it - add a dword named EnablePrintScreen of value 1 to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw

Thank you.
Another question, if I need to record a video of the knights and merchants, what do I do?

I don't know, I haven't found any screen-recorder that works with KAM yet

I know, but that doesn't mean that I know what they used

Still, I know a workaround. You could play KAM in a VM (say, virtual box) and record the VM window from the host OS (should always work since it's just a normal window)

This program: "Topview Screen Video Capture" record but this program don?t record KAM, the video appears in black as the screenshot.
I arranged my problem of the screenshot but the videos have the problem yet.
I put the link to download the program: http://www.topviewsoft.com/Download/Topviewsoft_ScreenVideoCapture.exe
thanks

Well if it can't do it, then it can't do it, right?
Try an other program? (or the workaround I described)

You can explain the solution better?

Ok, it's not a very good one though, it's easier to just try an other program to make a video..

It would work like this:
You download and install VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads)
You download windows XP (be creative? use mininova? if you can't find it, PM me)

Then in VirtualBox you create a new VM (click the big New button). It's pretty straight forward (standard settings are OK)
Install XP on it (mount the disk ISO in the VM and boot it, then do the normal XP install - not very hard)

Create a shared folder (read the manual on how to do that)
Copy KAM to the shared folder - play KAM inside the VM.
Record the VM using your favourite software.

For screenshots I use the REG fix from the English fan site, the Print Screen key and The GIMP. (but you can also use Paint or Photoshop)

I have never tried to make a video, it seems too difficult. But I would recommend installing the REG file before you try programs, because without that installed you will just get blackness.

Download the REG screenshot fix from here:

I've heard about program called Game Recorder (now ZD Recorder). People said that it captures video good, but sound quality is bad. 30-day trial here: http://www.zdsoft.com/
For screenshots, I'm using Screenshot Captor. No need to use PrintScreen regfix, quality is very good, and you don't have to minimize game when making many screenshots (option to save the file automatically after pressing PrintScreen key).
Avaiable for free at http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/screenshotcaptor/index.html

and there's also SnagIt / Camtasia studio. I can confirm that both will work in capturing screenshots. both programs can also record video (snagit is better for screens, camtasia for video).
